Have small spines covering their bodies... Look like, closely allied
with the Agonids (Poachers). Three genera, eleven species.
Nautichthys oculofasciatus (Girard 1858),
the Sailfin Sculpin. Eastern Pacific; Alaska to California.
Possibly Japan. To eight inches in length. Usually pictured
swimming with raised dorsal ahead. This one at the SIO/Birch
Aquarium in San Diego. |
