Family Cichlidae, Genus Etroplus, three species:
Etroplus canarensis Day 1877, the Canara
Pearlspot. Found only in South Karnataka, India. To about four and
a half inches total length. |

Etroplus maculatus (Bloch 1795), the Orange
Chromide. Found naturally in India and Sri Lanka; freshwater to
brackish. To a little over three inches in length. Cond.s: pH 8-9,
dH 9-19, temp. 20-25 C. Feeds on fish fry, algae, crustaceans in
the wild. |

Etroplus suratensis (Bloch 1790), the Green
Chromide. Found naturally in India and Sri Lanka; freshwater to
brackish. To sixteen inches in length. Cond.s: temp. 23-26 C. |
