Hemigymnus fasciatus (Bloch 1792), the
Barred Thicklip Wrasse (2). Indo-Pacific, including the Red Sea,
east to Tahiti. To thirty two inches long in the wild. A fourteen
inch adult male in Fiji |

Heniochus varius (Cuvier
1829), Humphead Bannerfish. Western and central Pacific;
commonly shipped out of the Philippines and Indonesia. Does eat
coral polyps in the wild. Here in Fiji |

1833), the Magnificent Anemone. To thirty some inches across (a
meter). Tentacles and oral disc of the same color, with a
base/pedicle also colored... Typically purplish, but may be red,
white/tan, brown, green or blue. Here in Fiji |

Hipposcarus longiceps (Valenciennes 1840), Pacific Longnose
Parrotfish. Eastern Indian Ocean to Tuamotus, Fr. Polynesia.
Replaced by Hipposcarus
harid in
the Indian Ocean. To 60 cm./two feet SL. This male pic shot at night
in Fiji.
