Chromodoris sphoni, Red Cross Nudibranch. Seen from above, the
dorsal red cross pattern is definitive (along w/ dist.) To 1.25" length.
To 60 ft. depths. Central Sea of Cortes to Panama. Noted to feed on red
sponge. Cabo 2016; Di pic.

Chromodoris vibrata (Pease
1860), the Trembling Nudibranch. Named for the continuous movement
of its gills (other chromodorids exhibit this behavior as well).
Possibly a Hawaiian endemic (but may be found in Okinawa as well).

blue bodied, black lines. Small gills, inconsistently colored
tentacles and large rhinophores also speckled white. Feeds on
sponges. Fiji and S. Sulawesi images. |
