Genus Galaxaura:

Galaxaura sp. (maybe G. marginata, see: Galaxaura species in Hawaii) At right in Hawai'i and below, a bleached-out colony in the Red Sea, and a small piece off Cozumel. Distinct dichotomously branching species of pink to red color.

Galaxaura marginata. To 14 cm. tall, slightly compressed blades of pinkish red with light calcification. Colonies held by a single holdfast in shallow (to 10 m) water in reef areas. Bonaire 2016, Di pic.

Galaxaura rugosa. Tubular Thick Algae. Shallow water species; branching 1 in. segments w/ fuzzy filaments. Roatan 2016

Genus Gracilaria:

Gracilaria/Ogo, a fabulous food genus for humans and fishes. Cultured for both uses.

Halymenia sp. Worldwide genus of macroscopic red algae. Aquarium pic.

Hydrolithon farinosum Lavendar Crust Algae; a thin layer found on hard substrates and Pearl Algae. Roatan 2019

Genus Jania:

Jania, a tropical genus of jointed corallines; found in South Africa, South Australia and Southern California! This one in Belize. 

Jania adhaerens, Pink Segmented Alga. Appear as fine, tangled clumps. Widely separated dichotomous branching made up of tubular segments and flexible joints. Pink to red with white joints.

Genus Kallymenia:

Kallymenia limminghii Montagne. Strap-shaped bright red small (to 2") blades with rippled margins. In darker areas like bases of sea fans. To 100'. Roatan 2017

Genus Laurencia:

Laurencia sp. Here in S. Sulawesi.

Genus Lithophyllum:

Lithophyllum the most widespread genera of marine algae are this and Lithothamnion, rock encrusting forms; all reefs, reef-tanks, both poles and everywhere in-between to 500 feet depths! Thin calcareous films to knobby, stony masses.

Lithothamnion (prolifera?), encrusting Coralline Red Algae. Here off of Queensland, Australia. 

Lithothamnion ruptile, Deepwater Red Algae. Pink to red floral sheets of encrusting coralline red algae. Found on deeper reef slopes. Cozumel pic.

Genus Maripelta:
Maripelta rotata (Dawson 1963); a small Red Algae (a few inches across) here off of San Diego on the wreck Yukon in about 80 feet of water. See AlgaeBase re. 2016

Martensia pavonia (J. Argedh) J. Argedh. Wide, ephemerous translucent blades. Blades 1/3 cm. net-like. Roatan 2017. Di pic.
