Genus Monanchora:
Monanchora arbuscula (Duchassaing & Michelotti
1864), the Red Encrusting
Sponge. Bright red to pink thin-walled sheets, with darker radiating veins from excurrent
siphons Bahamas and Cozumel pix. In older works listed as M.
barbadensis. To 10 inches across. |

Mycale fistulifera (Row 1911). Red Sea, Sudan, Indian
Ocean. Here in the Red Sea in 2019, infested w/ the hydrozoan Nausithoe
punctata. |

Mycale laevis, the White or Orange King or Boring Sponge.
Bright orange to yellow with white excurrent siphons. Grow under,
about a few species of stony corals, actually protecting them from bio-erosion by other/boring sponge species. Bahamas images. |
