Chromobotia (Botia) macracanthus (Bleeker
1862), the Clown Loach. Asia: all Clowns are wild-caught in rivers
of Borneo and Sumatra, Indonesia. To one foot in length. Preferred
conditions: pH 5-8, dH 5-12, temp. 25-30C. |

(Baird & Girard 1853), the Red or Rosey Shiner. To 9 cm. Found
naturally and distributed widely in N. America. A hardy, cool-water
species when started healthy. |

Gobioides broussonetti Lacepede 1800, the
Dragon Eel/Goby, Violet Goby (3). Western Atlantic, Carolinas to
Brazil, Gulf of Mexico. To twenty inches in length (largest
Caribbean Goby). A difficult fish to keep due to its feeding
strategy of filtering planktonic organisms. |

Osphronemus exodon Roberts 1994, the
Elephant Ear Giant Gourami. Asia; the Mekon and Xe Bangfai Basins.
To two feet in length. Sometimes offered as the "Red Fin/ned
Giant/Osphronemus Gourami" in the trade. The one
distinguishing trait of the Elephant ear is its larger gill
covers. |
